Build a playable falling-block Tetris game on a canvas with a 10-column, 20-row visible board. Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as needed. Write it to `index.html` in the current working directory using your file tools. Inline your own CSS and JavaScript. Do not use external assets, CDNs, or network requests. No third-party libraries are provided. Required behavior: - Include all seven tetrominoes with legal spawn positions. Use Left/Right to move, Up to rotate clockwise, Down to soft-drop, and Space to hard-drop. Show the controls. - Reject moves and rotations that overlap occupied cells or leave the board. Wall kicks are optional; if unsupported, reject the blocked rotation without changing the piece. - Lock landed pieces, clear complete rows, move rows above downward, and spawn the next piece. Display score, cleared-line count, level, and a next-piece preview. - Award 100, 300, 500, or 800 points for clearing one, two, three, or four rows with one piece, multiplied by the current level. Start at level 1 and increase gravity speed every ten cleared lines. - If a new piece cannot spawn, show Game Over. Provide Pause/Resume and Restart, with restart resetting the board, score, level, and piece sequence state. Hold and ghost pieces are optional. Verify: Move and rotate the first piece, then hard-drop it. Check that it locks into the board, a new piece spawns, and the next-piece preview advances. Pause and resume, then use Restart and check the cleared board, score, and level.

I will build a single-file HTML Tetris game with inline CSS and JavaScript.

I am mapping out the core mechanics: 10×20 board, seven tetrominoes, movement and rotation controls, soft-drop and hard-drop, line clearing with scoring, level-based gravity, and game-over detection.

I am finalizing the SRS spawn rules and rotation matrices for each tetromino. The board will use a simpler model without hidden rows.

I have chosen the standard tetromino colors and will represent each piece as an array of [x, y] offsets. Rotation will cycle through precomputed shapes instead of using matrix math.

I am defining the exact mino coordinates for each tetromino in every rotation state. I will use simple wall kicks instead of rejecting illegal rotations.

I am now structuring the piece data as a PIECES object with color and spawn offsets. The I piece will spawn at y=-1 so it sits flush on row 0, while other pieces will start at y=0.

I am refining the spawn logic. All pieces will start at x=3, y=0, with the I piece horizontal and the O piece centered at x=4. Game over triggers when a new piece's cells overlap existing blocks or sit below the board.

I will keep all spawn cells within the visible board so pieces are fully visible. The piece sequence will use a 7-bag randomizer, and restarting will reset it to a fresh bag. Gravity speed will increase every ten cleared lines using a classic formula. Soft drop will accelerate the piece downward without awarding extra points.

Hard drop will lock the piece immediately at the bottom. Soft drop will accelerate the piece downward without adding extra points.

I will lock a piece immediately when it lands during soft drop. After locking, the game will check for full rows, remove them, shift the remaining blocks down, and update the score, lines cleared, level, and next piece. Pausing will freeze gravity and ignore all movement controls except resume and restart. The UI will use a canvas for the board and a side panel for score, level, lines, next-piece preview, controls, and action buttons.

I will skip the optional ghost piece to save time. Arrow and space keys will be intercepted to prevent page scrolling. The visual style will use a dark theme with neon blocks and a grid. I am now drafting the HTML structure with a canvas for the board and a side panel for score, lines, and controls.

I am finalizing the HTML structure with a pause button, restart button, and status display. The board will render at 300×600 pixels using 30-pixel cells. The next-piece preview canvas will be 24-pixel cells. I have started writing the clockwise rotation shapes for each tetromino.

I have completed the rotation matrices for J and L. I am now working out the spawn coordinates for each tetromino so they sit centered on the board.

I have defined the collision rules: a piece is blocked if it touches the left or right edges, the bottom of the board, or an occupied cell. A piece locks immediately when it lands, and game over triggers if any spawn cell is already filled or if the piece locks above the visible area.

For row clearing, I will scan from the bottom up and remove any fully filled rows, shifting the remaining blocks down and adding one line per cleared row. Scoring will use a tiered point system—100, 300, 500, and 800 points for one through four lines at the current level.

I have settled on the exact scoring and gravity formulas. The score will be calculated using the current level before the level increments, then lines are added and the level updates as `1 + Math.floor(lines / 10)`. Gravity speed will decrease from 800 ms to a minimum of 60 ms as the level rises. Pausing will display a "PAUSED" overlay and freeze the timer; resuming will continue it. Restarting will clear the board, reset score, lines, and level to zero, generate a fresh bag, and unpause the game.

I will implement the 7-bag randomizer with a Fisher-Yates shuffle and reset it on restart. The next piece will be displayed in the side panel. Hard drop will move the piece down repeatedly until it can no longer descend, then lock it. Soft drop will only shift the piece down one row if possible; locking is deferred to the gravity timer.

I will intercept the arrow keys and spacebar to prevent page scrolling. To avoid key-repeat issues, I will ignore repeated keydown events for rotation and hard drop. DAS is not required.

I will add a simple ghost piece and draw the grid with slight bevels. The game over overlay will render directly on the canvas. I am now writing the file and will test it by moving and rotating the first piece, hard dropping it, pausing and resuming, and restarting to verify the board clears and scores reset.

I am checking the browser tool API to see how key presses are sent, likely using text values like "ArrowLeft". I also need to track both the current piece and the next piece so the preview updates correctly after each lock.

I am planning how to verify the game state through the browser tools. The next-piece preview will be checked visually, and score text can be read from the DOM. I may expose internal state temporarily for debugging but will remove it before finalizing.

I am finalizing the color palette and visual style. Each tetromino will use a distinct neon hue, with blocks drawn using subtle inner highlights. The board background will be dark blue-black and grid lines will stay faint. I will also add a status element alongside the canvas overlays to make pause and game-over states easier to verify.

I will add an inspectable status element showing "Playing", "Paused", or "Game Over". Score and level will be placed in DOM elements with IDs so the browser tools can read them. I also confirmed that restarting resets score, lines cleared, and level to zero regardless of prior activity.

The initial gravity interval will be set to 800 ms so the test runner can capture a screenshot before the next piece drops. After hard dropping, the board should show the old piece locked at the bottom and the new piece spawning at the top.

I will add basic wall kicks to the rotation logic. When a piece cannot rotate in place, the game will try shifting it horizontally by one or two cells and vertically by one cell before rejecting the move.

I am now writing the complete HTML file. The board will be 300 by 600 pixels, the side panel about 220 pixels wide, and the entire layout centered in a 1200 by 800 viewport. I will use system-ui fonts and add a subtle title. The pause button will toggle between Pause and Resume labels.

I will not add a keyboard shortcut for pause; the buttons alone will handle it. I also need to prevent the spacebar from accidentally triggering the focused button, so I will intercept both space and arrow key presses on the document and mark the buttons as type="button".

I will add ARIA labels for accessibility. The UI will use a retro arcade frame style. The next-piece preview will be centered by finding the bounds of its cells. The piece sequence is stored in a bag array that resets on restart.

I will use requestAnimationFrame with an accumulator for the gravity loop so the timer resets cleanly when the level changes. The scoring formula is confirmed: one to four lines cleared earn 100, 300, 500, or 800 points multiplied by the current level.

The gravity loop will use a single `requestAnimationFrame` accumulator. When the accumulated time exceeds the current gravity interval, it triggers one tick and resets the accumulator to zero. This prevents the piece from spiraling downward if multiple intervals pass in a single frame. Hard drop will also reset the accumulator so the next piece starts fresh. The game will begin immediately in a playing state, and the canvas will redraw every frame.

I verified that the I piece locks safely at the bottom of the board without spawning issues. Rotation will be rejected if it would place cells outside the grid. Left, right, and soft-drop keys will use natural browser key repeat instead of being suppressed.

I will add a small controls section with keyboard hints for movement, rotation, soft drop, and hard drop. The pause button will be disabled during game over so only restart is available. I will write the file to `index.html` in the current working directory and then run the browser tests.

I will display the next piece’s letter beside the canvas preview so the browser tool can verify it advances. Score, lines cleared, and level will also appear as text labels.

Each block will be drawn as a pixel-art cell with a one-pixel padding, a top highlight, and a bottom shadow. The board background will be #0b1020 with a faint white grid line. A lighter ghost piece will render behind the active piece to show where it will land.

I will skip soft-drop and hard-drop scoring bonuses. The score only changes when lines are cleared. I will verify the score is zero after restart. Filling the board to test a non-zero score would require too many pieces.

The gravity interval will start at 800 ms and shrink by roughly 15% each level, with a hard floor of 80 ms. This makes the acceleration clearly visible during play.

I will store each board cell’s tetromino type so the grid can be redrawn from saved state. Line-clear animations are skipped for reliability. I am now writing the file and will fix any bugs after testing. I also need to verify how the browser tool sends special keys, since it may only accept plain text.

I will try sending special keys like "ArrowLeft" and "Space" through the browser tool. If that fails, I will add small on-screen buttons for movement, rotation, and hard drop as a backup. These buttons will not interfere with the required keyboard controls.

I will send the browser tool special keys as plain text strings like "ArrowLeft" and "Space". I plan to take a screenshot after loading to verify the layout, then interact with the game. I am also considering adding a debug display for the current piece position.

I will skip localStorage for high scores to keep restart semantics simple. The first piece will have a 1000 ms gravity interval at level one so the test runner can reliably capture it before it locks.

I am now planning the exact verification sequence. I will load the game and inspect the initial state. Then I will move a piece, rotate it, and hard-drop it to confirm it locks at the bottom of the empty board. I will pause the game and resume it to verify the toggle works. Finally, I will restart to confirm the board, score, and level reset.

I will use the motion tool to verify that pausing freezes the piece in place and resuming restarts its fall. Gravity will be slightly faster so the motion capture can clearly show the piece moving again.

The initial gravity interval is now 700 ms so the motion capture can clearly show a single drop step. I will verify pause by checking the button state and confirming that key presses do not move the piece while paused, then resume and confirm movement resumes. I also added a tabindex to the canvas so keyboard focus works correctly, and I confirmed the O piece rotation wraps around using modulo.

I will pad the O piece with four identical rotations so its rotation index cycles cleanly. I verified that the I piece can move left from spawn and right to the board edge without clipping. The lock function updates score before checking for a new spawn, so a game-over spawn still credits the cleared lines.

I will centralize the HUD update inside the draw loop so it runs every frame and stays synchronized with the game state. The status text, score, level, next piece preview, and pause button will all be refreshed from the current state each frame.

I will add data attributes to the preview canvas so the next piece type is inspectable. I will also add a locked-count attribute to the board canvas so the test tool can verify the board empties after restart.

I will add data attributes to the board canvas to expose the current piece’s position, rotation, and type for invisible verification. I am now writing the file.

I will skip live verification of the game-over spawn collision and line-clear animations. Testing those scenarios would require too many pieces or an impractical auto-fill hook, so I will rely on code review instead.

I traced the line-clear loop to confirm that splicing rows during iteration works correctly. I also verified that clearing multiple lines at once awards points using the combined count rather than per-line bonuses.

I will not add UI comments. Soft drop and hard drop are blocked while paused. Rotation is rejected when it would place cells outside the grid. Wall kicks will only shift horizontally or upward, never downward, to prevent lock exploits.

The I piece will rotate around a pivot point, jumping right when it spins. I will add a page title and exact keyboard controls text. I am skipping combo scoring and sound effects to keep the build simple. I will set the canvas width and height attributes to match its CSS size so the drawing stays crisp.

The next-piece preview canvas will be 120 by 120 pixels. The layout should fit within the 800-pixel viewport without scrolling. I may add a subtle box-shadow glow to the active piece. On-screen control buttons will be placed in the side panel as a fallback for click testing.

I'll build a self-contained Tetris page and then verify movement, locking, pause, and restart in the browser.

The piece fell too much between tool calls. The screenshot is a later frame. ArrowLeft may not have worked.

The piece shifted left and downward. ArrowLeft likely worked alongside gravity. I will pause first to test movement while paused, then resume and move.

The click missed the Pause button. The piece is already locked. A green S is falling. The next piece is cyan I.

The click likely missed because the screenshot is scaled. I am mapping visual positions to the 1200×800 viewport.

The pause button is roughly at 678×596. The click failed to pause the game.

The screenshot may be letterboxed or compressed. The coordinates do not match the visible image. The click hit empty space.

I will check the image file dimensions to verify scaling. The green S ghost overlaps the locked red piece, suggesting the click may have registered after the piece had already locked.

The screenshot file is inaccessible.

The click at 678,598 likely missed the Pause button. The displayed image may be scaled or letterboxed, causing coordinate errors. I will re-examine the image to estimate correct coordinates.

The Pause button appears to be around 56% across and 74% down. The click still missed, so the button may sit lower than estimated. I will try clicking at several positions.

Repeated clicking is inefficient. A keyboard pause key would be more reliable. I will add one and slow gravity to make the game easier to control.

Gravity will be set to 1500ms for easier testing. The game card appears centered with dark margins in the screenshot. The board occupies the left side and the side panel the right. I am calculating the exact viewport coordinates from these proportions.

Exact coordinates are being calculated from the layout. The side panel starts at x=646 and is 230 pixels wide. The Pause button centers near x=701, while Restart centers near x=820. The game card top is y=58.

The side panel sits flush at the top of the game container, not aligned with the canvas. Its vertical layout stacks stats, next piece, controls, and button row. The Pause button sits near y=58 plus 22 pixels of padding.

The side panel starts at y=80. The stats card is roughly 130 pixels tall. The next piece card is about 140 pixels tall. Controls are around 110 pixels tall. The pause button row is about 40 pixels tall. I am now calculating the exact vertical center of the Pause button.

The Pause button center is at y=516. The earlier click at y=598 likely hit the arrow buttons or empty space. Gravity continued running, and the piece remained in the upper-middle left area.

The S piece appears visually left of center, suggesting the earlier click may have hit the on-screen left arrow button rather than the Pause button.

A keyboard shortcut for Restart will be added as well. This avoids clicking the button entirely during testing.

I will not add a debug overlay. Gravity will be slowed to 2000ms so pieces do not fall during testing. I am re-examining the rendered image to pinpoint the exact button coordinates.

The screenshot likely renders at 1200 by 800 pixels. The game card is centered with substantial dark margins above and below, so the Pause button sits lower than my earlier vertical estimate.

The pause button likely sits near y=560, just above the d-pad. The earlier click at y=598 probably missed it and hit the arrow buttons instead. I will retry clicking Pause at x=700, y=520 and Restart at x=820, y=520. The on-screen arrow button positions are also being mapped.

The click at 678,598 likely hit the left arrow button rather than Pause. The piece shifted left as a result. I will reload the game to spawn a fresh piece at the top, then pause it immediately at x=700, y=530. Gravity will be slowed to 800ms so the piece does not fall during the test.

I will not add keyboard shortcuts for pause or restart. Extra keys would confuse users and are unnecessary for accurate clicking.

I will reload the game and pause it immediately in the same call. Gravity will be set to 1000ms. I will not run browser actions in parallel to avoid conflicts. The page is centered with flex, so it should be fully visible.

The game is fully visible with no scrolling. I will click Pause at 701, 516 immediately after reload. Gravity runs during the tool turnaround, so the piece may have fallen slightly but should not yet lock.

Keyboard controls are being considered as an alternative to clicking buttons. A paused piece cannot move, rotate, or hard drop, so the plan is to pause immediately after reload, resume, and then press left, up, and space in rapid succession before the piece falls. If that fails, the piece will fall naturally between separate tool calls.

ArrowLeft already shifted the piece left before locking, so keyboard controls might work. I will pause first to freeze gravity, then press ArrowLeft and compare screenshots. A move counter will help verify the result.

The side panel may be taller than the left column because of the d-pad buttons. The game container stretches to fit the tallest column, which shifts the vertical center and changes the Pause button position.

The side panel is 610 pixels tall. The left column is 640 pixels tall. The game container is 684 pixels tall and centered vertically, so its top edge sits at y=58. The side panel content starts at y=80.

The Pause button center is at (702, 538). The earlier click at y=598 was 60 pixels too low and hit the d-pad left button.

Gravity is fast relative to test delays, so I’ll pause from a calculated button position and then check controls.

The top piece is blue J. The next piece is yellow O.

The ghost piece sits at the bottom. I am pausing to estimate the pause button's exact coordinates by visually mapping the screenshot. The button center appears to be around 57% of the image width, which calculates to about 684 pixels.

The pause button sits roughly 45–50 pixels above the left d-pad arrow. The vertical center estimate is about y=598.

The pause feature works. The J piece has fallen and is visible under the overlay.

The next piece is yellow O. I will verify that moves and rotation are blocked while paused, then resume to test the full sequence: move and hard-drop the first piece, confirm it locks and spawns a new one, and check restart clears the board, score, and level.

The J piece has already fallen several rows. I will resume and immediately test the move sequence. The overlay makes visual comparison difficult, so I will skip the paused-keyboard check.

I will resume, then move and rotate the piece, and hard-drop it. Gravity may lock the piece before I press space, so I will pause again immediately after to freeze the state for inspection.

The J piece sits around row 8-10. Three tool calls could trigger 18 gravity ticks and lock the piece before hard drop. I can only send one browser action per call, so I cannot batch the move, rotate, and hard-drop together.

Parallel browser tools are too risky. I will temporarily slow gravity to about 5000ms for testing, then restore the 800ms interval.

I will keep the default 800ms gravity speed. Four tool calls should only drop the piece a couple of rows, so I can move, rotate, and hard-drop it without waiting for auto-lock.

A 1000ms gravity interval is still too fast for multi-step testing across tool calls. Slowing it to 30 seconds would be unplayable. I cannot move or rotate the piece while paused, so I will proceed with the interaction test now.

I will temporarily slow gravity to make the test easier, then restore the normal speed and reload to verify the final state. The move, rotate, and hard-drop sequence must still be tested on the final file.

I will set the level-1 gravity interval to 900ms. That gives roughly four rows of fall per action, so the piece should stay near the middle of the board through move, rotate, and hard-drop. I will test these actions by clicking on-screen buttons in sequence.

The J piece locked from gravity before I could rotate or hard drop it.

The current piece is O. Hard dropping it will advance the next piece to I, which can be rotated.

O doesn't rotate visually, so it won't verify the required move-rotate-hard-drop sequence. I'll temporarily slow gravity to 8 seconds at level 1 to test the full behavior, then restore normal speed and do a compressed reload-and-hard-drop test.

I'll set gravity to 15 seconds for the full test session. I also noticed a visual bug where the O ghost overlaps the locked J piece.

The O ghost sits above the J without overlapping. The locked J retained its original orientation, confirming rotation did not occur. The hard drop button and side panel are fully visible.

I'll test the full move-rotate-hard-drop sequence immediately after a reload using on-screen buttons. I'm also considering how to verify line clears and scoring, either by filling the board or adding a temporary debug key.

Gravity locked the piece before I could finish the control checks. I’ll slow the drop timer just long enough to verify move, rotate, and hard-drop.

The piece did not appear to move left.

ArrowLeft failed to move the piece. The key action may be sending text instead of a real key event. I will try alternative formats like "Left" or Selenium codes.

The keyboard input failed. I will click the on-screen left arrow button at roughly 678, 598 instead.

The left button is at 681, 598. The rotate button sits in the side panel.

The J piece moved left. Its nub is now at the left edge of the board.

The ghost also moved left. The keyboard arrow key failed, but the button click worked. I suspect the browser tool sends keys to a focused element that does not bubble to the document listener.

The tool might be sending "ArrowRight" as typed characters rather than a proper key press.

I'll try alternative key names like "Space" or "Left". I'll also listen for raw key codes and e.code. A temporary on-screen key logger should reveal exactly which events arrive.

I'll test gameplay with clicks first: rotate and hard drop the left piece, then check lock and next. Pause, resume, and restart will follow. The page might be inside an iframe, which would explain why keyboard events aren't reaching it.

Keyboard events aren’t landing, so I’ll log what the browser actually sends and keep testing with the on-screen controls.

The ArrowLeft key event fired successfully.

The piece failed to move left despite the event firing. The handler and act functions appear correct, so the bug likely lies in tryMove or the game state.

The J piece spawns at x=3, y=0. Its cells are at (3,0), (3,1), (4,1), and (5,1). The nub sits one column left of center.

The piece sits one cell left of the wall. The visual shift is only 30 pixels across a 1200-pixel image, so the movement may be imperceptible.

The gap between the left wall and the nub looks identical in both images, so the piece likely did not move. Gravity or a state reset is unlikely. The tool may have captured the frame before JavaScript processed the key event.

The keylog updates the DOM immediately, but the canvas only redraws inside requestAnimationFrame. The screenshot was likely captured before that animation frame painted the new position, so the piece still looked in its original spot.

Keyboard input works correctly. The canvas only redraws inside requestAnimationFrame, so the screenshot captured the old frame before the new position painted.

I will call drawBoard and syncHud immediately after each action to make movement feel instant and fix testing. I will also remove the keylog, restore the proper gravity speed, and retest.

The earlier left click worked because the browser had time to paint the new frame before the screenshot. The keyboard likely captured the image before that animation frame ran. Synchronous drawing fixes this timing issue. I will test by reloading, pressing left, up, and space, then checking the final locked piece.

The 900ms gravity would make a 15-second key sequence dangerous. I will keep gravity at 25000ms for now. I will test move, rotate, and hard drop visually first. Then I will test pause, resume, and restart. Finally I will set the final gravity speed.

Key events are arriving, but the board only repaints on the next frame, so the screenshot misses the move. I’ll draw immediately after input.

The piece still appears in the same place.

The piece still appears three cells from the left. The ghost also looks unchanged. The compositor buffer may not have updated, or the key handler may run after the screenshot.

The handler now calls paint() before returning, so the canvas should update before the screenshot. The tool may capture the frame at the start of the action. A bug in the move logic is also possible. I will add pixel position to the status text to verify.

Restart succeeded. The board cleared, and the cyan I at the bottom is gone.

After restart, the board shows a Z piece at spawn 3,0 and a purple T next. Score is zero, lines zero, and level one. Next steps are removing debug coordinates, restoring gravity, and testing line clearing, scoring, game over, soft drop, and wall rotation rejection.

I'll test soft drop and left wall rejection with keyboard input. I'll also add a temporary self-test harness that runs on page load, logs results to the console, and then removes itself. This will verify scoring, line clears, level progression, game over, and restart sequence reset without affecting the live game.

The self-test will run inline and call reset() at the end to keep the visible game clean. I'm writing assertions for line clear scoring, starting with a bottom-row fill test.

The self-test now covers four-line clears and level progression. A full tetris scores 800 points at level one. The next assertion checks the score when nine lines are cleared before a tenth line.

The self-test now verifies level progression after a tenth line clear. It also checks that double-line scoring multiplies by the current level. A collision rejection test is being added to confirm the board blocks downward movement when the bottom row is occupied.

The self-test now confirms that downward movement is blocked when the floor is occupied. It also verifies that a leftward move is rejected at the wall boundary.

The self-test now covers game over on blocked spawn and full restart reset. It verifies that a blocked spawn sets the state to "over", and that restart clears score, lines, level, and the board.

The self-test now verifies the restart spawn position and rotation. I will run it, check the console, then remove the temporary code and debug status. Soft drop will be tested with ArrowDown while the Z piece sits at 3,0.

The debug status text will be removed to prevent overflow. Gravity is being replaced with a classic exponential formula: 1000 ms at level one, dropping by 20 percent each level, with a hard floor of 80 ms. Soft drop will move the piece one row down when possible and lock immediately if downward movement is blocked.

Hard drop locks immediately. Soft drop locking on contact is acceptable. Wall kicks are simple and optional. All seven tetromino colors appear correctly in spawn screenshots. The layout is being checked for overflow.

The hard drop button and debug status text fit the layout without overflow. The paused overlay correctly covers the piece without drawing it underneath. During game over, the current piece is hidden so only the stacked board remains visible. A rare edge case where a piece locks above the grid is handled safely. The vertical I spawn position is confirmed valid.

The horizontal I spawn at x=3, y=0 is fully on the board. The self-test will run before the final reset and log its results. The iframe console warning comes from the test harness, not the game code. Hard drop correctly triggers paint after lock and spawn.

Soft drop locking correctly triggers paint after lock. Gravity ticks defer rendering until frame(). Pausing mid-piece preserves position. Restarting regenerates the bag, which is verified by checking that five pieces remain after two pulls.

The ghost piece should not draw over locked cells. I will add a board occupancy check so the ghost only renders on empty spaces.

Soft drop moved from y=0 to y=2.

ArrowDown repeat likely caused the double soft drop. The tool probably sent the key twice or the browser generated repeated keydown events. Gravity is not a factor. This behavior is acceptable for gameplay.

Next I will add a self-test for scoring and game over. Then I will clean up status and gravity. Rotation rejection does not need visual testing.

The self-test will be inserted just before the final reset() call. After running it, I will reload and check the console for errors. Then I will remove the test and restore gravity. A final reload will confirm a clean initial state with no console errors. If the test passes, I will verify line clears visually.

The gravity test expects gravityMs() to be below 25000, but the current implementation returns exactly 25000.

The self-test calls reset() at the end of its function, and the caller also calls reset().

The self-test runs synchronously before the first paint. The visible game starts fresh after reset. Gravity is 1000ms, so the piece will fall during the screenshot after reload. The initial frame should show a clean spawn. The console will show TEST OK or FAIL. There is a bug in the test: after the first reset it checks the bag, then mutates the board and clears lines.

The blocked-rotate test fails because the upward kick still succeeds. The T piece at py=10 with rotation 1 would land on row 12, which is already full. The test expects rotation to fail entirely. I need to place the T against a wall of blocks that covers all kick offsets so no valid position exists.

I mapped the T piece's rotation 1 cells and every kick offset. Filling rows 9 through 12 with blocks while leaving only the T's own cells empty will block all possible rotations.

Initial state looks clean. The game starts with a Z piece, O next, score 0, level 1, and no console errors.

Removing the self-test code from the shipped file. It resets the game twice and wastes random bag state. Gravity at 1000ms is fine.

Line clear logic was verified in the browser console. The self-test confirmed clearLines, scoring, level progression, game over, and restart. It was not explicitly required but is essential behavior.

The screenshot shows a polished game with all controls visible. The next preview and ghost piece look correct.

Removing the self-test block and keeping only the reset call.

The self-test function is too long for a precise edit. I'll use a script to strip lines 588-666 and keep only the reset() call.

The final state looks good. No JavaScript errors were found.

Browser testing confirmed core gameplay mechanics. The I piece spawned and shifted left. Up rotation turned it vertical. Space hard-dropped it to lock and spawn the next piece. Pause blocked input and resumed correctly.

Restart cleared the board and reset score, lines, and level. Soft drop moved the piece downward. On-screen buttons handled movement, pause, and restart.

Temporary logic tests confirmed scoring, level progression, wall and floor rejection, blocked rotation, game over on spawn, and the seven-bag bag system.

The playable Tetris game is in `index.html`. It uses a 10×20 canvas, all seven tetrominoes, and the required keyboard controls. Checked in the browser: - The initial board shows score 0, 0 lines, and level 1, with a next-piece preview and the controls listed. The console shows no application errors. - Left moved the first piece, Up rotated it clockwise, and Space hard-dropped it. It locked, a new piece spawned, and the preview advanced. - Pause blocked input. Resume continued the same piece. Restart cleared the board and reset the score, lines, level, and piece sequence. - Soft drop moved a piece down. Line clears, the 100/300/500/800 × level scoring, the level-up every 10 lines, the wall and blocked-rotation rejection, and the game-over-on-blocked-spawn logic were checked with a temporary in-page test that passed, then removed. A full line clear and the game-over overlay were not played out by hand.
