Once grown, the tree sways gently in the wind while child branches remain attached to their parents. - Provide a generation control from 1 to 5 and Regrow. Changing generation or pressing Regrow restarts growth using the same chosen grammar. - Bound grammar expansion and keep the whole tree visible at every supported generation. - Use procedural graphics. Choose branch styling, leaves, colors, and the particular branching grammar freely. Verify: Sample branch growth and inspect visible parent-child connections. Change the generation setting and check that growth restarts with a different branching structure. If growth has completed during inspection, sample the wind motion as well.

Let me design the app.

Plan:
- L-system: axiom "X", rules: X -> "F[+X][-X]FX", F -> "FF" (classic plant). Angle configurable. Generations 1-5. Need to bound expansion and keep tree visible.

Better: Use a grammar with controlled growth. Let's compute string lengths for gen 1..5 and cap/normalize.

Option: axiom "X", rules: X -> "F[+X]F[-X]+X"? Classic Barnsley fern-ish plant:
- Variables: X, Y; Terminals: F, +, -, [, ]
- Axiom: X
- Rules: (X) → F+X−FX−−Y+[YFX]X ; (Y) → FY+X−[F+X−Y]X−FY. Too complex.

Simpler approach that gives nice trees with parent-child connections:
axiom "F", rules: F -> "F[+F]F[-F]F" is too dense at gen 5 (length 5^5 = 3125 F's... actually len = 5^n). Hmm F -> "F[+F]F[-F]F" produces 5 F per iteration → gen5: 5^5 = 3125 branches. Drawing 3125 segments with progressive growth is fine actually. But tree bounds: with push/pop relative scaling.

Let's do: axiom "X", rules: X -> "F[+X][-X]FX", F -> "FF". Length: X-expansion... gen5 might be large. Let's compute in node.

Alternative and more controllable: define the grammar, expand it, then interpret to build a segment tree (list of branch segments with parent index, start point, angle, length). Then compute a bounding box and scale to fit the canvas — guarantees "keep the whole tree visible at every supported generation". That handles bounds nicely. Also cap segment count (bound grammar expansion) with a max symbol/segment count, trimming.

Progressive growth: Each segment has a depth (generation in tree terms = distance from root along the branch tree) and its own growth animation: segment grows from 0 to full length, starting after its parent finishes. So growth proceeds trunk → tips. Implement with time-based: segment i has startTime = parent's endTime (scaled), duration based on its length. Actually simpler: precompute for each segment `order` (parent's order + 1 scaled) — use per-segment start = max(parentEnd, ...) and draw progress = clamp((t - start)/dur).

Then after growth completes (t >= totalDuration), wind phase: sway each branch by angle offset = sin(time * freq + phase based on position/depth) * amplitude * (depth-dependent factor). Because children are drawn relative to parents in the turtle state stack (i.e., we recompute the whole turtle walk each frame applying per-segment sway angle), children remain attached to parents automatically. That's the key: draw by re-interpreting the command string each frame, with a rotation offset added at each segment proportional to its depth, so children inherit parents' accumulated rotations. That guarantees attachment.

So the drawing routine each frame:
- walk commands: for F: rotate by (angleOffset for current segment + wind), draw line from current pos to pos + len*dir; push/pop with [ ] saving full state (x,y,angle).
- Growth: skip drawing (but still move turtle?) Hmm—for progressive growth we want only the part grown to be visible. Better approach: each segment has `growth` value 0..1; draw partial length. Segments with growth 0 have length 0, so the turtle doesn't move — children stay at the parent's tip which is correct-ish (they appear attached at parent's endpoint which grows). Good: that yields a nice "growing tip" effect.

Wind: add per-segment angular offset. Use amplitude scaled by 1/sqrt(depth) or scaled by (1 - depth/maxDepth)? Real wind: tips move more. Offset angle per segment = windAmp * sin(t*speed + segment.phase) * (something). If each segment contributes small angle offset, tip motion accumulates over depth — tips sway more naturally. Good. Trunk (depth 0) gets tiny offset to keep base planted.

Leaves: at segments that end in a terminal branch (no children / where X symbols produce nothing) — draw leaf blobs at the tips when growth of that segment completes. Or: leaves drawn at segments with `isLeaf` flag (segments that are last in their branch or where the L-system placed an 'F' followed by no F child). Let's mark: a segment is "tip" if it has no child segments or all children are... Actually simpler: mark segments where turtle drew an F corresponding to a terminal. Let's compute tips = segments whose child count == 0, plus draw small blossoms/leaves with alpha scaled by growth.

Also for gen 1-5, the segment counts: use rules giving a nice tree. Let's test lengths in node with the grammar:
axiom: "X"
rules: X -> "F[+X]F[-X]+X", F -> "FF"
That's classic. Gen n: X count grows 3x, F doubles each generation so lengths grow. Let's compute string lengths and segment counts for gens 1..5.

Actually, for progressive growth over time and to bound expansion, I'll cap: maxSegments ~ 2000 (trim further expansions by stopping at cap but keeping structure), and max iterations of symbol replacement guarded by length limit.

Also make angle adjustable? Requirement only says "an angle" explicit. I'll show angle in a readout and maybe a small slider (optional). Keep the generation control (1-5) and Regrow button — required.

Let me compute counts.

Grammar choice: I'll use two rules with explicit angle variable:
- axiom: "F" ... hmm.

Let's just test in node.

Also I want the whole tree visible: normalize lengths by computing bounding box of fully-grown tree in unit-length space, then scale/translate to fit canvas. Because segment length is fixed per command 'F', but with F -> FF we get chains. I'll compute all segments in model space with len = 1 per F, get bbox, then map to canvas with fit scale. Line widths in screen space (scale-independent-ish, maybe scaled slightly).

Better: rather than constant F length, use per-depth length tapering? Not needed with a nice grammar. Constant-length F gives classic L-system plant look. Fit-scale handles visibility.

Growth timing: total growth duration fixed (e.g., 5.5s) regardless of depth count; assign each segment a start based on graph distance in normalized way: depth-based scheduling: seg.order = parentOrder + 1; startTime = (order / maxOrder) * growDuration * 0.85, dur = growDuration * 0.25 (so overlapping growth looks organic). Better: use distance-based along the branch (turtle path length) so growth radiates outward from the trunk. Let's use: seg.t0 = (seg.parent.t0 + seg.parent.dur) ... that makes a strict sequential order that could be very long for deep trees; normalize by dividing by maxDepth: Actually use depth-order normalized: t0 = order/maxOrder, dur small. Fine.

Hmm, but with 5 generations, maxOrder could be like 30 (depth of tree = number of F-segments along path, since F->FF doubles each gen, depth ~ 2^5 * something). Let's use "branch generation" instead: each segment's depth = number of L-system iterations in which its ancestor was created? Simpler: use "level" = the count of X-derived generations. Alternatively, compute order as topological distance from root and use normalized scheduling by maxDistance. That's fine: growth spreads from root outward, tips last. dur = 0.35 of the schedule window so consecutive segments overlap.

Let me now build and test. I'll write a small node script to compute stats first.

Let's do the grammar test.

Gen 5 = 422 segments, max path depth 62. That's a lot of "F" chain links per branch, making the tree look like long curved chains (because F->FF doubles lengths each generation, so trunk becomes 32 links long while branches...). Actually with F->FF, path depth grows exponentially, and total length grows. The drawing scale normalizes so the trunk becomes long and thin, and each link is short. Hmm, gen5 with 62-deep path where each link is length 1 → total branch path of 62 units, vs branching angle 20°... Let me instead visualize: this is the classic "tree" that looks good in many demos because step length decreases with depth? In classic interpretations, F->FF means each F drawn is same length, so trunk is very long. Typical demos use F length fixed and small, it looks fine.

Alternative grammar without F->FF: X -> "F[+X]F[-X]+X" only. Then gen counts: each X -> 2 F + 3 X. Length grows 5x per gen? Let's compute: gen5 → F count? Let's check: s1: F[+X]F[-X]+X → F=2, X=3. gen2: each F->F, each X -> F[+X]F[-X]+X: F = 2 + 3*2 = 8, X = 9. gen3: F = 8 + 9*2 = 26, X=27. gen4: F=26+54=80, X=81. gen5: F=80+162=242, X=243. Path depth ~ gen (5-ish) plus chains. Total 242 segments at gen5, quite manageable, and structure looks like a nice tree with trunk of ~gen links.

Hmm but 242 segments with 5-deep paths looks sparse/short. Let's do something with a taper: scale each F's length by a factor based on its "order" (generation in which the symbol was created). That's a common trick: track generation per symbol. I can implement by storing per-character metadata during expansion: build a list of tokens, each with a `gen` field indicating at which iteration it was produced. Then segment length = baseLen * 0.72^gen... Hmm but F->F stays same token, so I need to track: when replacing a symbol, the new symbols get gen = symbol.gen + 1 if they were produced from a rule (not carried over)? Standard trick: F from rule keeps incrementing; but with F->F (no rule for F), F's generation stays constant... Actually with the rules only on X, F tokens produced at iteration k all keep gen k. So the trunk F (from iteration 1) would be long, later F's short. But the trunk in this grammar is just one F per iteration at each level, forming a chain of 5 links, each link produced at successive iterations → trunk links get progressively shorter. That looks natural! Branch links are short.

That gives good tree look and bounded: gen 5 → 242 segments, path depth ≤ 5-ish chains.

Wait but with F->F rule absent, gen 5 tree has only 242 segments — visually a decent tree. Let's add a second grammar variant maybe. Keep one grammar (requirement: explicit production rules and angle). Maybe offer a grammar selector (3 grammars) as extra flourish — requirement says "restarts growth using the same chosen grammar" for generation changes. So a grammar selector is allowed and nice. Let's add 2-3 grammars:

G1 "Forking": axiom "X", rules: X → "F[+X][-X]FX"? Let's check: 2 X -> F->... counts: X:1→ s1 = F[+X][-X]FX: F=2, X=3. gen2: F=2+3*2=8? each X contributes F=2,X=3: F=2+6=8, X=9. Same numbers as above. Fine.

G2 "Symmetric": axiom "F", rules: F → "F[+F]F[-F]"? F count: gen1: 3, gen2: 3*3=9... each F→3F → F=3^n: gen5 = 243. Nice.

G3 "Bushy": F → "FF+[+F-F-F]-[-F+F+F]" classic — counts 3^n per F? Each F → 5 F? Let's see: FF+[+F-F-F]-[-F+F+F] has F count = 2+3+3 = 8 → 8^5 = 32768 too many. With F->length cap and slice. Hmm. Use "F→F[+F]F[-F]F" = 5 F per F → 5^5=3125 at gen5. Manageable? 3125 segments drawn per frame with strokes — p5 can handle, but growth animation might get slow-ish. With cap and it's fine at 3125 line draws. Actually we draw each frame: 3125 segments × 2 strokes (outline + fill) = ~6k draw calls per frame. p5 canvas2d can handle ~ fine at maybe 30-50fps. Could be OK but let's cap segments at 3000 and use simpler stroke.

I'll keep three grammars with reasonable caps:
1. "Fern Fork" axiom X: X → "F[+X]F[-X]+X"  (asymmetric)
2. "Double Fork" axiom X: X → "F[+X][-X]FX"
3. "Braided" axiom F: F → "F[+F]F[-F]F" (bushy; 3125 at gen5 → cap)

Hmm, for grammar 3 with no X, path depth = 5 chains? Actually F→"F[+F]F[-F]F" gives a chain of 3 F in main direction + 2 side branches each of 1 F. Depth grows linearly-ish? No: each F in the string produces its own 3-chain. Path depth grows ~ 3^n?? Path depth: following the first F chain: each iteration the first F becomes 3 F → depth ×3 per iteration → gen5 depth 3^5=243? No wait, depth counts number of F along a single path: at gen1, path = 3 F in a row (F[+F]F[-F]F: after [+F] popped, we continue at position after the bracket, so the chain F ... F ... F are sequential in the same direction → path length 3). At gen2 each of those 3 F becomes 3 → path length 9. So gen5 → 3^5 = 243 deep path, 3125 segments. Long paths + tiny length differences. Hmm, with per-token gen metadata: tokens produced at iteration k: in this grammar the F tokens all get produced at various iterations; length by gen → trunk links... but the path chain at gen 5 consists of tokens from all iterations interleaved (3 from iteration... hmm messy but visually produces curves).

Simpler and safer: rely on grammars with X (terminal-ish) so path depth stays ≤ gen. Let me use:

Grammar A "Pine": axiom "X", rules: X → "F[+X][-X]FX" — hmm path: gen5: F=242? Let's compute more carefully with code, including max path depth and bbox, and check the visual by rendering.

Let me just write the app and inspect with the browser tool + screenshots. I'll include per-token generation metadata for length tapering and for leaf placement (leaves on F tokens produced in the last 2 iterations, or at tips).

Implementation details:

Expansion with metadata: represent string as array of {ch, gen}. Expand iteratively up to N gens. Cap total tokens (e.g., 60000) — if exceeded, stop early and mark truncated. Bound expansion explicitly: MAX_TOKENS guard + generation slider limited 1..5.

Interpretation to segment list:
```
segments = []  // {x1,y1,ang,len,gen,parentDepth,parentIndex, ...}
turtle stack
```
Walk tokens; for 'F': create segment from current pos with current heading; parent = last segment that is "behind" it (the most recent segment whose endpoint is the current start) — track `lastSeg` for parent linkage; on '[' push {x,y,heading,lastSegIndex}; on ']' pop and restore. This gives proper parent-child tree. '+' heading -= angle, '-' heading += angle.

Then compute model bbox from all segment endpoints (fully grown). fitScale = min(w*0.86/bboxW, h*0.8/bboxH). Also min scale so tiny trees don't blow up: cap so trunk reasonable.

Growth scheduling: BFS from root: order[seg] = order[parent]+1, t0 = (order/maxOrder) * GROW_WINDOW*0.75 + small random jitter deterministic; dur = ... Let's define: depth-based: seg.start = (seg.depth / maxDepth) * 0.8; seg.dur = 0.2 (normalized time units), totalGrowthTime = 1.0 * GROW_SECONDS (say 6.0s). So each segment grows over time = start+dur ≤ 1.0.

Actually growth should look like each segment extends out of its parent — with parent partially grown, the child's start position moves. That's fine and looks organic (child emerges from parent's tip as parent finishes).

Wind: after growth completes (or even during, blended in with factor = progress), each segment gets extra heading offset:
```
sway = windAmp * windFactor(depth) * sin(time*speed + depth*0.35 + seg.phase)
```
where windFactor increases with... since offsets accumulate along the chain (each segment adds to heading), tips move more. Use windAmp small: e.g., 0.05 rad * (0.4 + 0.6*len/baseLen) — thinner (longer = tip) segments sway more: amp ∝ 1/len? Since len = base * taper^gen, longer links = trunk... wait with taper, trunk links are LONGER (produced early) so trunk amp small, tips amp big. Good: amp = k / len? Use amp = k * (len/maxLen)... hmm: shorter links should bend more. amp_seg = k * (minLen / len)? Let's use amp = k * (1 - len/maxLen + 0.15). Or simply amp ∝ gen (later gen = more flex). Use amp = k * gen.

Also add gust variation: windStrength(t) = 0.6 + 0.4*sin(t*0.37)+... Let's keep gentle.

Leaves: draw at tips (segments with no children) or segments with gen >= maxGen-1, with size and alpha depending on that segment's growth; appear when growth > 0.6. Colors: spring green palette. Also a subtle background: sky gradient + ground, plus a title panel and controls with CSS.

Also show readouts: grammar rules, axiom, angle, generation, segment count, expanded symbol count — helps verification of the L-system.

Controls: generation slider 1..5 with live label (or segmented buttons 1-5). "Generation control from 1 to 5" — a slider plus numeric output. On change → regrow. Regrow button. Angle slider (extra) — changing angle should also regrow (fine, "same chosen grammar"). Grammar select — regrow. Wind toggle? Keep gentle wind always after growth; maybe a wind strength slider. Optional extras but keep tidy.

Also for verification, I should expose some state via window for programmatic checks (e.g., window.__treeState = {phase, grown, segCount, depth}). The browser tool: I can use `type`/`click`/`screenshot`/`inspect`. Can I evaluate JS? The browser tool actions are limited: reload, inspect, screenshot, motion, click, drag, key, type, scroll. No eval. Hmm — so "Sample branch growth and inspect visible parent-child connections" is done via screenshots/motion frames and DOM inspection. The inspect action returns DOM/console presumably.

I could add a visible on-canvas HUD that shows state text (phase: GROWING / SWAYING, segments, depth) so screenshots reveal it. Good idea: draw a small info readout in the canvas as well as DOM stats panel.

Also to help automated verification, maybe display a console log line? Console output is inspected. I'll log grammar expansion stats to console (e.g., "L-system gen 5: 242 tokens ... segments: 241").

Let's write index.html now.

Design:
- Layout: left/right? Full-bleed canvas with a glass control panel at top-left and a legend at bottom-left. Title. Nice dark dusk sky, distant hills? Keep procedural: gradient sky, sun glow, ground line, grass tufts drawn procedurally (deterministic noise), and the tree with tapered branches, leaves.
- Responsive: canvas fills window; windowResized re-fit.

Code structure:

```js
const GRAMMARS = {
  pine: {name:'Asymmetric Fern', axiom:[['X',0]], rules:{X:'F[+X]F[-X]+X', }, angle:22, leafOn:'tips'},
  ...
}
```

Expansion with metadata:
```js
function expand(grammar, gens, maxTokens){
  let toks = [{ch:grammar.axiom[0], g:0}];
  let truncated=false;
  const stats=[];
  for(let i=0;i<gens;i++){
    const next=[];
    for(const t of toks){
      const r = grammar.rules[t.ch];
      const body = r!==undefined? r : t.ch;
      for(const ch of body) next.push({ch, g: r!==undefined? i+1 : t.g});
      if(next.length>maxTokens){truncated=true;break;}
    }
    if(truncated){ toks=next.slice(0,maxTokens); break;}
    toks=next; stats.push(...)
  }
}
```
Wait: for r undefined (terminal F), the token keeps its g. For rule-produced tokens, g = i+1 (iteration created). For axiom X at g 0.

Hmm, but a subtlety: in grammar with X→"F[+X]F[-X]+X", each iteration's new F tokens get g = i+1, and they never get replaced again, so the string's F's have varying g. Path depth: a chain follows F, F, F across iterations → lengths taper nicely. Total F count at gen5 = 242 for grammar A (computed earlier). At gen 5, path depth = 5 (since trunk: F from iter1, F from iter2, ... ) Actually each iteration adds one F at the front for the main trunk and 3 X → nice.

Let me verify the second grammar too via node.

Segment building:
```js
function interpret(toks, angleDeg, lenFn){
  const segs=[]; let x=0,y=0,a=0; // heading 0 = up (we'll use -90 offset in draw)
  const stack=[]; let curParent=-1;
  for(const t of toks){
    if(t.ch==='F'){
      const len = lenFn(t.g);
      const s={i:segs.length, x1:x,y1:y, a, len, g:t.g, parent:curParent, children:[]};
      segs.push(s);
      if(curParent>=0) segs[curParent].children.push(s.i);
      x += Math.sin(a)*len; y += Math.cos(a)*len; // heading a measured from +y?
      curParent = s.i;
    } else if(t.ch==='+'){ a += angle } ...
```
Let me use model coords: x right, y up, heading a = deviation from vertical; direction vector = (sin(a), cos(a)) so a=0 → straight up. Then screen y = baseY - modelY*scale.

For '[': push {x,y,a,curParent}; for ']': restore (curParent = popped curParent so next sibling attaches to the same parent as the branch — correct).

Then depth: s.depth = parent>=0? parentDepth+1 : 0; also maxDepth.

Bbox over endpoints. Fit: scale = min((W-2*pad)/bboxW, (H-padTop-padBottom)/bboxH). Clamp to [0.5, 40]? Keep whole tree visible — clamp max to avoid absurd zoom on tiny trees (gen 1: bbox small → scale huge; tree would be huge lines). Clamp scale to maxScale = H/ (2*maxPathLen) or something like: scale = min(fit, baseScaleLimit). Let's set: fitScale = min(wScale, hScale); then cap at 100 (model units are taper lengths ~ maybe base len 1). Let base length L0 = 1.0 for g=1 and taper 0.82^g? Then gen1 tree height ~1.2. fitScale = 300 → trunk thickness? We'll compute thickness by len. Cap fit at, say, 260 (so a 1-unit trunk = 260px, fine). Actually for gen 1 with few segments we want it to look like a small sprout but sized reasonably: cap scale at maybe 120 and also set minimum via centering. Let's cap: scale = min(fit, 130). Hmm, better to let it fill: gen1 tree height maybe 3 model units (F at g1 + ... ) Let's just check numbers empirically and pick.

Growth order: compute depth via BFS on the tree (parent chain) — depth = number of segments along the path from root = already computable while building since parent index < current index (segments are created in order, parent index always smaller). Yes: parent index < child index always (since children created later). So depth = depth[parent]+1 works inline.

Also segment "end time": to have growth proceed from trunk to tips by depth, schedule:
```
const GROW = 6.0; // seconds total
s.t0 = (s.depth / maxDepth) * GROW * 0.78 + rand*0.05
s.dur = GROW * 0.20
```
Growth complete time = max over s of t0+dur ≈ GROW*0.98. Then phase = 'sway' when clock > growEnd. During growth, blend wind factor from 0 to 1 over last 30%.

Draw loop:
```
for each seg: g = clamp((clock - s.t0)/s.dur,0,1) eased; frac = easeOut(g)
  recompute turtle: need to know current position considering partial lengths and sway.
```
Approach: replay tokens each frame using lengths * fracOfCurrentSegment. Since segment order matches token order, and each F token maps to segs[k] in order, we can iterate over a `cmds` array of {kind, segIndex, angle}. Each frame:
```
let x=0,y=0,a=0; stack=[]
for cmd in cmds:
  F: const s = segs[cmd.i]; const frac = growth(s); const swayA = windAngle(s, time);
     a += swayA;
     const len = s.len*frac;
     draw from (x,y) to (x + sin(a)*len, y+cos(a)*len) in model coords → screen via fit transform
     push branch/leaf tip positions for children: children start at end point automatically since we track x,y (children of s follow s in the walk? careful: a child segment's start point = parent's endpoint, which in the walk equals the position when the child is drawn — YES because after drawing F we advance x,y, and if next token is F (child) we draw from new point. If it's '[' then F inside is a child that starts at same point (the parent's end) since '[' doesn't move. Correct.)
```
But the model coordinates x,y here already incorporate sway, so the whole thing is a live turtle — children attached.

But wait: bbox fit computed from un-swayed model positions; sway small so still visible (keep amp modest + margin).

For partial growth, if a parent hasn't grown fully, children have t0 later so they're 0 anyway. Good.

Leaf drawing: after the walk, for segments flagged leaf, use recorded endpoint (store during walk in array tipPos[i] = {x,y,a}). Then draw leaves.

Also draw branches with line thickness by model len: w = constrain(s.len * 8 * ... ). Let's use depth-based taper in screen px: width = max(0.6, 11 * (s.len / maxLen)^0.6 * scaleFactor)... Simple: trunkWidthModel = 0.10 * (len_i / len_of_g1)? Since len_i = L0 * taper^g, thickness ∝ len_i^0.8. Use px width = constrain( 13 * (s.len / maxLen) * min(1, scale/60), 0.7, 16 )? Let's just do: pxW = (0.085 * s.len * scale) clamped [0.8, 26]. With scale ~60 and len 1 → 5.1 px trunk. Hmm taper^g quickly → tips len 0.4 → 2px. Reasonable.

Actually better thickness should depend on supporting subtree size (like a natural tree): width ∝ sqrt(childCount+1). Compute per segment subtree size (number of descendants) — sum of children subtrees. Then thickness ∝ (subtreeCount)^0.4 * taper. That gives realistic trunk. I'll compute subtree counts: process segments in reverse order, cnt[i] = 1 + sum(cnt[children]). Then w = k * cnt^0.42 * min(len, 1)... Let me compute: trunk cnt = 242 (gen5) → 242^0.42 = e^(0.42*5.49)=e^2.306=10.0 → k*10; tips cnt=1 → k. With k=1.4 → trunk 14px, tips 1.4px. Nice. Scale with canvas: k = clamp(scale/50 * 1.3, 0.8, 2.2).

Draw order: draw thick-to-thin? Draw in walk order (trunk first, tips last) so tips overlay — fine. Round caps.

Color: branch gradient from dark brown base to olive/tan tips: lerpColor by len/maxLen or depth/maxDepth.

Leaves: at segments with no children (tips) or gen == maxGen. Each leaf: small ellipse cluster of 2-3 quads in green hues with slight per-leaf hue variance from deterministic hash. Plus a few blossoms? Keep leaves.

Wind:
```
function windAngle(s, t){
  const gust = 0.55 + 0.45*Math.sin(t*0.23 + 1.3) * Math.sin(t*0.11);
  const amp = 0.030 * (0.35 + 0.65*(s.g/maxG)) * windStrength * gust;
  return amp * Math.sin(t*(1.55 + 0.12*(s.g)) + s.phase + s.depth*0.18) + lean;
}
```
Where lean = small constant tilt that varies slowly (whole-tree lean with steady breeze), scaled so trunk stays planted: trunk amp small (s.g small → factor 0.35 → 0.03*0.35=0.01 rad). Accumulated over depth 62? depth up to maybe 60 for some grammars; accumulation could be large. Let me clamp: use depth in the phase only, and amp ∝ 1/(1+0.02*depth)? Simpler: keep maxDepth modest for chosen grammars (X-based grammars give depth ≤ gen*small). For grammar A max path depth = 5 at gen 5? Let's verify with node.

Also add falling leaf particles? Optional, adds life. Maybe skip or add tiny drifting seeds — nice but let's include a small number for flair (procedural). Keep it light.

Ground: draw a soft hill ellipse + grass blades using deterministic pseudo-random from seed; plus shadow under tree.

Panel: HTML/CSS overlay with:
- Title "L-System arboretum" or similar
- Axiom / rules / angle readout (monospace) — showing explicit productions.
- Grammar <select>, Generation range slider 1-5 with tick labels + value, Angle range slider 5-60, Regrow button, Wind slider (0-2) maybe "Breeze" slider.
- Stats: tokens, segments, depth, phase.
- Legend.

Show/hide panel with key H? Not necessary.

Also a "canvas" behind: use p5 instance mode with createCanvas(W,H) parented to a #stage div, and the panel absolutely positioned.

Also handle: growth restart on control change; keep a seed per regrow for organic variation? "Changing generation or pressing Regrow restarts growth using the same chosen grammar" — same grammar, yes. Random jitter uses a fresh seed per regrow (allowed) but deterministic is nicer for "same structure". I'll use a fixed seed derived from grammar+angle+gen so Regrow gives identical structure but it's still a restart. Hmm "Regrow" restarting the same structure is fine; maybe add slight seed variation on Regrow for life. I'll keep structure deterministic (same seed) so verification can compare structures; leaves jitter deterministic too. Actually let's give Regrow a new random seed for tiny jitter only (not structure). Simpler: fixed seed always → Regrow replays identically. Fine and defensible.

Console logs: on regrow, log grammar, gens, token length, segment count, maxDepth, bbox, scale, phase transitions. Good for inspect.

Let me now check the grammars numerically.

Wait, in my interpretation, `cur` should be parent index... For depth I used segs[cur].d+1 but I wrote d before pushing... slight bug (cur is parent, and parent index is cur; but I set `const me=segs.length-1; cur=me;` after push — and depth uses segs[cur] where cur was parent — correct since I compute d before overwriting cur). But note '[' pushes cur (parent) so branches after ] continue from the trunk segment. But there's a bug: after '[' and ']', the pushed cur should be the parent at the time of '[' which it is.

Hmm depth for A gen5 = 9 (F chains double at each level because of the "F[+X]F" pattern: trunk continues). Fine. Max 19 for grammar C. Wind accumulates over ≤19 segments; small amps fine.

Grammar A at gen 1 has only 2 F segments (bbox 0x1) — a tiny sprout; scale cap needed. gen 1 tiny, that's expected ("progressive growth"). With scale capped, gen1 tree appears small in the middle-bottom. Let's allow fit but cap max scale such that the tree height spans at most ~55% of canvas for gen1... Actually the fit approach makes gen1 fill the canvas height (bbox height 1.0 → scale = 0.7*H/1 ≈ 500 → trunk 500px tall with len 1 → each F = 500px). That's fine visually — a two-stem sprout filling the frame. Looks OK. But thickness formula uses cnt^0.42 * k where k based on scale — with scale 500, k clamp max 2.2 → trunk width = 2.2*1 = 2.2px for a 500px trunk — too thin. Let me base thickness partly on model length: w = clamp(0.055*len*scale*(...)). Let me define trunk thickness in model units: thickModel_i = 0.055 * cnt_i^0.42 * lenOf(maxGr?) hmm.

Better approach: normalize so that "the tree occupies a consistent visual scale" — instead of fit-to-canvas for tiny trees, use a scale = min(fitScale, referenceScale) where referenceScale is computed for a "canonical" size: scale = fitScale but for gen 1..2 trees, cap so the tree doesn't look gigantic: cap height ≤ 0.55*H. Then for gen1, tree = 0.55H tall with two segments; thickness in model units: 0.06 model → 0.06*0.55H/1 ≈ 0.03H ≈ 24px at H=800 — too thick for a sprout. So thickness should be tied to subtree count and length in model terms: thickModel = 0.035 * cnt^0.45 * lenModel (relative). Let me just compute pixel width = k * cnt^0.42 where k derived from the base segment's own length*scale: i.e. w_i = clamp( 0.09 * (s.len * scale) * (cnt_i/s.cntDirect?) ...

Cleanest: pixel width = C * pow(cnt_i, 0.42) * pow(s.len, 0.35) * sqrt-ish fit... Let me think about what looks right. A segment of model length L drawn at scale S has pixel length L*S. Realistic trees: branch width ≈ 6–10% of its length for the trunk, thinner for twigs. So width_px = clamp(0.10 * L*S * strength_by_subtree, min 0.8, max 30). For A gen5: trunk L=1 (gr1), S ≈ 0.7*800/6.06 ≈ 92 → 0.10*92 = 9.2px * (cnt scaling: cnt_trunk=242, cnt_twig=1 → use (cnt/1)^0.2 / normalization?) Hmm simpler: width_px = clamp(0.11 * L * S * f(cnt), 0.7, 34) where f(cnt)= min(1, 0.45+0.55*sqrt(cnt/ cntRoot)). Since twigs have L smaller (0.84^gr), the L factor already tapers. For gr=5 tip: L=0.84^4=0.5 → width=0.11*0.5*92=5px — a bit thick for a twig but ok-ish. Let's use taper exponent: width = 0.10*L*S*(cnt ratio)...

Let me instead compute width from subtree count directly in pixel terms with normalization by S:
width_i = clamp( (0.006 * Math.pow(cnt_i, 0.75) * S_ref ), 0.6, 26 ) where S_ref = scale (fit). At gen5, cnt=242 → 242^0.75=46 → 0.006*46*92=25px trunk; tip cnt=1 → 0.55px... too thin jump. Use exponent 0.5: 242^.5=15.6→0.006*15.6*92=8.6px; cnt=4 → 0.006*2*92=1.1; cnt=1 → 0.55 min 0.6. Reasonable-ish but thickness varies with S which varies with gen — for gen1 (cnt=2, S≈440): 0.006*1.41*440=3.7px, tips 0.6. Good.

Hmm gen1 S capped at 0.6*H/1 = 480 → trunk width 3.7px for a 480px trunk: thin sprout but acceptable? Looks like a twig/stem — fine for gen 1 ("seedling"). Let me use exponent 0.62 and coefficient tuned: gen5 trunk cnt=242^0.62 = e^(0.62*5.49)=e^3.4=30 → 0.0045*30*92=12.4px; gen1: 2^0.62=1.54 → 0.0045*1.54*480=3.3. OK.

I'll add a min based on len: twigs at least 0.8px.

Good enough — I'll iterate visually with screenshots.

Let me now write the file.

Details on p5 instance setup:
```html
<script src="p5.min.js"></script>
<script> ... window.addEventListener('load'?) </script>
```
p5 global mode: I'll use instance mode: new p5(sketch, container).

Key implementation pieces:

```js
const GRAMMARS = [
 { id:'fern', label:'Asymmetric fern', axiom:'X', rules:{X:'F[+X]F[-X]+X'}, angle:24, tint:'...'},
 { id:'fork', label:'Balanced fork', axiom:'X', rules:{X:'F[+X][-X]FX'}, angle:26 },
 { id:'thick', label:'Deep-root braid', axiom:'X', rules:{X:'FF[+X]F[-X]FX'}, angle:18 },
]
```
Also maybe a 4th: 'willow' with different taper. Keep 3.

MAX_TOKENS = 120000; MAX_SEGMENTS = 4000 (trim: if segment count exceeds cap while interpreting, skip creating segments but still move turtle? Better: stop expansion if projected tokens too many; if interpreted segs > cap, keep only first cap segments and rebuild tree (orphans removed). Simpler: cap expansion tokens at 60000 and generation max 5 → our grammars max 1453 tokens. So caps never trigger for these; still implement the guard for safety (bound grammar expansion is required).

Fit/visibility: compute bbox and set scale = min(fitW, fitH) with caps; also clamp minimum so the tree isn't microscopic.

Let me write the code.

```js
function buildTree(){
  const grammar = currentGrammar;
  const angleDeg = angleValue;
  const toks = expand(grammar, gens);
  const cmds = [], segs = [];
  ... interpret, storing cmds entries for F with seg index, plus push/pop markers...
}
```
For the per-frame walk I need commands including brackets and rotations. I'll store cmds as array of {k:'F'|'L'|'R'|'['|']', i} — actually simpler: store segs with their local (pre-turtle) relationships and rebuild a "walk script": array of ops. Each op: [type, idx]. Use compact: `prog` = array of numbers: encode F as segIndex (>=0), '+' as -1, '-' as -2, '[' as -3, ']' as -4. Fast.

Per frame walk:
```js
let x=0,y=0,a=0, top=0; const stackX=[],stackY=[],stackA=[],stackCur=[];
for(let p=0;p<prog.length;p++){
 const v=prog[p];
 if(v>=0){ const s=segs[v];
   const gr = growthOf(s, clock);
   a += wind(s, t, gr);
   const L=s.len*gr;
   const nx=x+Math.sin(a)*L, ny=y+Math.cos(a)*L;
   if(gr>0.001) drawBranch(s, x,y,nx,ny, gr, t);
   if(s.leaf) { if(gr>0.35) drawLeaf(s, nx, ny, a, ...) }
   x=nx;y=ny;
 } else if(v===-1) a+=ang; else if(v===-2) a-=ang; else if(v===-3){ push } else { pop }
}
```
Note: rotation ops apply always regardless of growth — fine (they don't move).

Wait issue: when a parent is fully grown but child partially grown, child grows from parent tip — good. But when parent has gr=0, child is also 0 by scheduling (t0 based on depth). Good.

Wind during growth: wind(s,t,gr) returns 0 if gr<1? Blend: amp *= gr so un-grown parts don't wiggle: return A*Math.sin(...)*gr.

Leaves: also small flowers. Draw leaves in model coords → convert. Use push/translate/rotate in p5 to orient leaf along branch heading.

Screen transform: sx = ox + x*scale; sy = oy - y*scale (y up in model). ox = canvas center-ish horizontally aligned to bbox center; oy = ground line y (bbox minY maps above ground: groundY - minY*scale... careful: model y min may be 0 at base since trunk starts at 0. Actually min y = 0 always (start) since branches go up; downward? With '-' rotations and heading measured from up, a branch could point downward if accumulated angle > 90°. Allow it (dead branches) but ensure fit includes it.

Set: ox such that bbox center maps to canvas center-x: ox = W/2 - ((minX+maxX)/2)*scale. oy = groundY + minY*scale ... let's define: we want model y=maxY at top margin (say H*0.10) and model y=0 near ground. So scale = (groundY - topMargin)/(maxY - min(0,minY)) then check width fit: scale = min(scaleH, (W*0.9)/(maxX-minX)) and cap.

Ground line: groundY = H*0.86. topMargin = H*0.08.

Draw shadow ellipse at base.

Falling leaves: array of particles spawned from random leaf tips when sway high; keep ≤ 30, drift with wind. Nice touch, procedural, deterministic-ish (use seeded rand at spawn). I'll include it with the seeded noise (using a mulberry32 rng for phases only; particles can use Math.random, it's fine).

HUD in canvas: draw small text bottom-right "phase: GROWING 68%" etc. Actually DOM panel shows stats; canvas text also good for screenshot verification. I'll draw a compact readout top-center? Let's draw at bottom-right corner: phase + percent + wind. And in DOM panel show axiom/rules/angle/tokens/segments/depth.

DOM updates: use requestAnimationFrame-free: update DOM stats on regrow; phase text updated in draw at ~10fps (counter).

Now growth timing: GROW_SECONDS = 5.5. s.dur = 0.9 + jitter; s.t0 = (s.depth/maxDepth)*(GROW*0.75). Growth done at maxT = max(t0+dur) → clock vs maxT → progress.

Let me write it all out now. Also handle windowResized.

CSS: dark dusk panel with blur, nice typography (system fonts only — no external). Title with letter-spacing. Range input styling. Responsive.

Let me write the file.

Now writing the app.

I left in some junk: two throwaway p5 instances (`new p5(function(p){...})`) — that's bad and messy. Also `p.state` assignment happens in sketch setup? I set `p.state = state;` at end of sketch function body (instance property), available immediately actually since sketch function runs with p. But `inst.state` is set during sketch invocation — before setup. Fine.

Also `s.tokCount` is never set in rebuild, and `s.truncated` isn't stored. Also drawLeaf has a bogus placeholder fill line. Let me clean up:

- Remove throwaway instances and the weird boot with setInterval; simpler: create one p5 instance in a sketch that registers itself globally.
- Store tokCount and truncated in state.
- Fix drawLeaf.
- The sketch's p.setup creates canvas; DOM controls need api reference. Simplify: use a global variable `treeApi` set inside sketch at the end of the sketch function body.

Let me rewrite the bottom portion and fix issues.

Also `state.wind` used inside sketch draw — set from pending on apply(false). Fine.

Also note LEN_TAPER and GROW_SECONDS referenced in DOM code (in scope, same IIFE — fine).

Let me restructure: put `treeApi = {state, rebuild}` assignment inside sketch after setup defined. I'll do: at end of sketch function: `window.__tree = {...}` and also `api = {state, rebuild}` — set a module-level variable directly inside the sketch closure. Since `new p5(sketch, holder)` runs the sketch function synchronously, `api` gets assigned before boot() continues.

Rewrite boot:
```js
let api = null;
const holder = document.createElement('div');
holder.id='sketchHolder'; // actually canvas parents to 'stage' anyway
new p5(sketch, holder);
// inside sketch, after defining state/rebuild: api = { state, rebuild };
```
But sketch is defined before the DOM control section; `api` declared with let in the outer IIFE scope — hoisting issue: `let api` declared later in the file but sketch function runs after that declaration (since boot happens at the end). As long as `new p5(...)` executes after `let api = null;` line, fine. I'll keep declaration near the top of the DOM section and run boot at the end. Good.

Also remove the `p5.instance = null;` hack.

Also inside sketch, `syncDom()` is called from rebuild — but syncDom is defined later in the same IIFE scope as a function declaration (hoisted) — fine. It checks `if (!api) return;` and api may be null during first rebuild (during sketch execution) — then DOM shows '–' until boot completes. I'll call syncDom() after boot.

Also in draw I call `syncDom()` via frameCountTick. Fine.

Also `p.state = state` inside sketch — that's on the p5 instance; I use api instead.

Let me also double-check `s.x2 = s.x1 + Math.sin(a)*L` — s.x1 is model start (static) but the live walk x,y may differ from s.x1 due to parent's growth partiality and sway. For falling leaves I use MX(s.x2), MY(s.y2) — I set s.x2 = nx (live) in the leaf branch, and in the branch drawing I set s.x2 = s.x1 + sin(a)*L which is wrong (should be x + ...). Fix: set s.lx2 = nx, s.ly2 = ny in both cases. Simplify: after computing nx, ny, always set s.lx2=nx; s.ly2=ny.

Also the growth: leaves appear only when gr>0.55 — good.

Also potential perf issue: sky gradient loop of height/4 rects = 200 rects — fine.

Also `p.textFont('monospace')` — p5 accepts font string. OK.

Another thing: `branchColor` creates colors each segment each frame — 242 segments × a few color objects = fine. But `p.color()` calls in a hot loop can be slow-ish; at 484 max it's OK. For MAX_SEGMENTS 3500 it might lag, but our grammars max ~484. Fine. Could cache per segment: compute color once in rebuild and store s.col (a p5 color). Let's cache in rebuild after colorMode setup — but rebuild is called in setup after createCanvas so p.color works. Cache s.strokeCol = branchColor(s) and s.hiCol? Do that for perf and simplicity. But if palette changes on grammar switch, rebuild recomputes. Good.

Wait: rebuild is called in p.setup after createCanvas — yes.

Let me apply the edits.

Note: `els` object is defined before `api` declaration? Let me check order: els defined, then `let api = null;` then pending, then syncDom function, then boot... But the sketch references `api = {...}` — assignment to outer `let api` which is in TDZ until executed. The sketch runs inside boot(), which runs at the end of the IIFE — after `let api = null;` executes. Good.

But careful: inside the sketch, `syncDom()` is called from rebuild during p.setup (which runs after DOM ready and canvas creation — synchronously inside `new p5(...)`), and syncDom accesses `api.state` — api was assigned at end of sketch body, which runs before setup? The sketch function body runs fully first (assigning p.setup etc.), then setup is called... Actually p5 calls the sketch function, and setup runs later (on canvas ready / in the same tick or next). p5 1.x: in `new p5(sketch, node)`, it calls `_start()` which calls sketch(p) then... setup is invoked during `_start` after p.preload. Actually p5 does: `p1.prototype... ` In global mode, DOMContentLoaded → new p5(sketch) → sketch(p) is called, then p._start() → which runs setup. Hmm: In p5 1.x, `new p5(sketch, node)` calls `this._setup` via `p._start()` inside constructor? Let me recall the source:

```js
const p5 = function(sketch, node, sync) {
  return new p5.prototype.p5(sketch, node, sync);
};
p5.prototype.p5 = function(sketch, node, sync) {
  ...
  const _p5Instance = ...
  ...
  this._idleHandlers ...
  if (sync === true) { this._start(); this._hasTouchChanged(); } else { window.addEventListener('load'...) → this._start() }
}
```
Actually the p5 constructor defers `_start()` to window load event unless sync. So `new p5(sketch, holder)` → sketch function is called immediately (in constructor via `sketch(_this)`) and _start() runs on window load. So `api` assignment happens synchronously; setup later. Good. Then apply(true) in boot() would call api.rebuild() before setup → before createCanvas → p.color would fail!

Hmm. rebuild() uses p.color (branchColor, cached colors) and fitView uses p.width/p.height which are 0 before setup. So calling apply(true) immediately at boot would break.

Fix: guard — make apply() skip if canvas not ready; and have setup call syncDom() + apply pending settings. Since rebuild is already called in setup, and at that time api.state has default values (GRAMMARS[0], gens 4, angle 24, wind 1) which match the initial DOM defaults... but pending.angle default is GRAMMARS[0].angle = 24, matching DOM angle slider value 24 and gen 4. So initial state is consistent with the DOM. Good.

So: in boot, don't call apply(true) immediately; instead set a flag when ready. The sketch's setup calls rebuild() then we should sync DOM. syncDom() is called at end of rebuild → but `api` is already assigned by then (sketch body done). syncDom uses api.state — fine.

But syncDom references els which exist. OK. So just remove apply(true) from boot and let setup's rebuild populate. Also guard: if p.canvas missing, skip.

Let me also make sure `state.tokCount` etc used. And that DOM's initial values match state defaults (gen slider value=4, state.gens=4 ✓; angle slider 24, state.angle=24 ✓, grammar select first option = fern = GRAMMARS[0] ✓; wind slider 1 ✓).

Also boot may be called when document.readyState !== 'loading' → but p5 with async _start waits for window load anyway. Fine.

Another consideration: `apply(false)` for wind before setup — only via user interaction, unlikely pre-load.

Update boot and add a ready guard in apply.

Also in syncDom, the "tree fits 100%" text is silly — replace with something meaningful, like whether tree fits the canvas. Let me compute a fit check in state: visible bounds vs canvas. I'll store state.fitMargin = max extent fraction. Simple: after fitView, compute the tree's rendered width/height fraction: state.fits = ((maxX-minX)*scale < p.width && (maxY-minY)*scale < p.height*0.95). Show "fits ✓". Also draw an on-canvas dashed bbox? No.

Let me refine syncDom text and add fit check in state. I'll implement fitView to also set state.treeW/state.treeH in px.

Also verify the HUD line at bottom-left overlaps panel? Panel is top-left; HUD at bottom-left is fine.

Good. `els.sSeed.textContent = s.gens + '×'` is meaningless — change to a seed id string. Let me set state.seedId in rebuild.

Also the initial `<b id="genVal">4</b>` matches. Now let's run in the browser and check console/screenshot.

Let me also fix sSeed to show something like `${grammar.id}-g${gens}-a${angle}`.

Also, remove unused `main` variable? Already removed. Let me extract the script and syntax check with node.

Wait: syncDom references `api.state.tokCount` before setup assigns it. During first rebuild in setup, syncDom is called at end of rebuild → tokCount set before? rebuild sets state.tokCount early. But `state.treePx` set in fitView (called in rebuild). OK.

But there's an issue: syncDom is also called during rebuild in setup, before `api` is assigned? No — the sketch body assigns api synchronously at construction; setup runs later on window load. So api is set. Good.

Now run it.

Ah I see — my earlier edit had oldText spanning from sSeed line to boot start, but that region didn't match exactly (because there was duplicate apply definition inserted earlier?). Actually the current file has TWO `function apply` definitions and TWO `function boot`? Let me see: my last empty-newText edit apparently matched nothing and the tool reported "1 replacement(s)"? That's confusing. Looking at the current output: after boot() there's a second `function apply(rebuildTree)` with `if (!api) return;`. That means the empty-text edit did NOT delete; instead the file had earlier: syncDom..., then `function apply` (old version with `if(!api) return`), then `function boot` (new version I added earlier)...

Hmm. My previous edit added a new apply+boot before boot. So order was: syncDom, apply(canvas guard), boot(...), then the OLD apply(!api). Then the empty newText edit... it said success but nothing appears removed? Wait, the oldText I gave ended with "function boot(){" and started with "els.sSeed..." — that block does not exist contiguously in the file, so it shouldn't have matched. Yet it reported 1 replacement. Maybe it removed something else? Let me diff by checking for a duplicate of a chunk. Search for `p.state` or the removed `els.sSeg` lines.

Anyway — the file is currently syntactically valid? Let's check for duplicate apply definitions (harmless but the second overrides the first, meaning apply lacks the canvas guard and could throw if called pre-setup). Let me just clean: remove the second `function apply` block (the one without the canvas guard), keeping the guarded one.

Actually careful: function declarations hoist within the IIFE; the last declaration wins for the whole scope. So the guard is lost. Remove the second one.

Let me verify syntax and structure again after cleaning.

Working. Issues:
1. The sun glow circles are huge and ugly (big translucent disc). Reduce size/alpha or remove; make a subtle radial glow instead.
2. Fit scale 100 px/unit but tree is 612px tall on an 800px canvas — the cap `Math.min(s, p.height*0.62)` = 496 → not binding. Fine. But at gen 4, tree height 612px. OK.
3. The trunk at start looks like a bright thin stick — the "sunlit edge" highlight draws over everything early? Actually the trunk is drawn with the highlight at alpha 34 — appears yellowish. It looks like a glowing stick. The trunk color: bark '#4a3a2c' dark brown; the image shows a light tan trunk. Because width wpx = kBase*sub^0.62 + len*0.9: kBase=0.0062*100=0.62; sub=80 → 80^0.62=15.4 → 9.5px + 0.9 = 10.4 px wide trunk. And the highlight stroke of 2.9px at alpha 34 over it... The visible color looks pale — maybe because the highlight is drawn with alpha 34 but colorMode alpha is 255 so 34/255 ≈ 13% — shouldn't dominate. Hmm, the trunk looks cream/tan. Let me check branchColor: k = 1 - 0.85^(g-1) → for g=1, k=0; t = min(1, g/maxGen*0.85 + k*0.35) = 1/4*0.85=0.21 → lerp bark→barkTip at 0.21 → mostly dark brown. But rendered trunk looks light. Maybe it's the highlight: I set p.stroke(s.hi) where s.hi = p.color(255,236,190) with alpha... I removed the setAlpha line! In rebuild: `s.hi = p.color(255, 236, 190);` — no alpha → fully opaque. That's the bug: the highlight is opaque cream covering the branch center. Fix: set alpha 40.

4. Also the tree is currently tiny in the frame (just trunk growing) — expected.

5. The ground: dark band starting at groundY+6 = 690; grass drawn from groundY+8 upward. Looks OK but the ground is nearly black; add slight gradient/greenish. Fine.

6. Sky gradient loop: fine.

7. The HUD bottom-left overlaps nothing. Good.

8. Panel: "SEED FERN/G4" fine.

Also the sun: make it smaller and subtler. Let me draw a radial glow using a few concentric circles with low alpha, radius ~0.16*H, and a soft disc.

Let me fix these, then continue verification: sample growth over time, check parent-child connections visually (zoom?), change generation to 5 and 1, check restart, check wind motion.

Also consider: at gen 5, 242 segments; check the fit and that growth completes.

Another improvement: draw the tree with a slight initial "sprout" look. Fine.

Let me also verify children attach: the walk ensures it structurally.

Note: `p.color(255, 238, 196, 46)` — colorMode RGB with alpha 255 max, so 46 alpha works.

Growth and sway work; parent-child connections look connected. Wind motion visible between frames 3 and 4 (branches shift).

Issues to improve:
1. The tree leans to the right noticeably in sway frames — that's from `s.jit` (±0.05 rad per segment) accumulating over depth 7 → up to 0.35 rad = 20° lean. It's a bit much and creates a consistent rightward lean. Reduce jit to ±0.03 and scale by 1/(1+depth*0.15)? Actually the static lean (jit*0.4 during growth) gives a permanent tilt. Let's reduce jit magnitude to 0.035 and make it zero-mean by construction... it's random per segment so accumulates as random walk — fine but reduce. Also the whole tree looks asymmetric to the right. Hmm, part of it is the fern grammar (asymmetric by design: F[+X]F[-X]+X has 2 right turns vs 1 left). OK.

2. Branches at the top get cut off? Frame 1 shows a branch going off the left edge around y=225 (x=350). Look: in frame 1 there's a leaf at the far left near x=350,y=225 that appears cut by the panel. Actually the leftmost branch extends behind the panel — the tree is centered but the panel overlaps it. bbox width 587px on a 1200px canvas → tree spans x from ~306 to ~893. The panel occupies up to x=322. So slight overlap only. In frame 1, the left branch tip at x≈350 is fine, just behind the panel edge. Acceptable, but I could shift the tree right or reduce the fit width to keep clear of the panel. Better: reserve left margin for the panel: center the tree in the area right of the panel when width > 700. Let's set view center x = (panelW + p.width)/2 when p.width >= 760, else p.width/2. And availW = (p.width - panelReserve)*0.92.

3. The wind sway amplitude looks decent (gentle). Good.

4. Leaves are only at tips — fine, but the tree looks a bit sparse/scraggy at gen 4. Adding leaves on more segments (s.g >= maxGen) is already there. Looks OK.

5. Trunk thickness: trunk ~10px looks good.

6. The sway makes the top of the tree translate; check tips remain within canvas. With the sway, the bbox may shift; the fit uses unswayed bbox with margins: top pad 9%, width 90%. Sway offsets could push tips slightly off top. In frame 4, the topmost leaf is at y≈40 (canvas 800, top pad 72). Hmm, at t=6.1s the top branch reaches y≈40 — above the 0.09*H=72 margin. So sway can push it near the edge. Reduce sway amp slightly or increase top pad. Let's increase topPad to 0.13*H and cap tree height accordingly. Also reduce jit.

7. Also there's an odd artifact: in frame 1, a leaf at the left edge near the panel appears to float detached (x≈350,y≈225). It's a tip leaf, fine.

8. Falling leaves: not visible yet (just started swaying). Check later.

Also the DOM "TREE 587×612PX · FULLY ON SCREEN ✓" — good.

Let me make these tweaks:
- jit: (r()-0.5)*0.05 → ±0.025 rad.
- sway amp 0.055 → 0.05.
- topPad 0.13*H.
- view center offset for panel.
- Also make sure `onScreen` check accounts for sway: add margin factor (e.g., require treePx.h < p.height*0.94).

Let me implement: in fitView:
```
const panelReserve = (p.width >= 760) ? 348 : 0;
const availW = p.width - panelReserve - p.width*0.08;
state.cx = panelReserve>0 ? panelReserve + (p.width-panelReserve)/2 : p.width/2;
```
Hmm with panelReserve=348 and W=1200: cx = 348 + 426 = 774. Tree width 587 → spans 480..1067. That's shifted right, away from the panel. availW = 1200-348-96=756 → 587 fits. Good.

But careful: on mobile the panel is full width at top; the tree center stays at W/2 and the panel overlaps the top area. For narrow screens, reduce tree height and shift down? The panel occupies top-left ~ full width on small screens. Let's handle: if p.width < 700, topPad bigger (0.42*H) since panel covers top. Hmm, on mobile the panel is tall (~430px) — the canvas is behind it. Simplest: on narrow screens, treat groundY same and topPad = min(H*0.5, panelHeight+20)? We can measure panel height via DOM. Let's do: const panelH = document.getElementById('panel').getBoundingClientRect(); if panel right edge > p.width*0.5 → narrow → topPad = panelH.height + 30 (in px), clamped to H*0.5. And cx = W/2 for narrow.

Let's implement that in fitView.

Also the HUD text at bottom-left may collide with ground; fine.

Let me apply edits.

Now click the generation slider at y≈261, x≈306 for value 5.

Generation → 5 restarted growth (clock 0, phase GROWING 0%) with a different structure (242 branches vs 80, depth 9 vs 7).

Now let it grow and sample the sway at gen 5. Use motion to capture frames over ~2s after growth completes. Growth takes 5.6s; the motion action captures ~1.7s. Let me do two motion captures to let time pass, then a final one for wind.

Let me call motion twice sequentially (each ~1.7s) then once more to see the swaying tree.

Wind sway works (visible motion across frames, tips moving, children attached).

Problems at angle 46° + gen 5:
1. Branches point downward on the right side (branches drooping to the ground, crossing below the ground line at bottom-right). Some leaves go below groundY — the tree's bbox minY < 0 (branches pointing down) and my fit uses h = maxY - min(0,minY) so downward extent is included in scale... but the ground is at model y=0, so parts below y=0 hang under the ground line, which looks wrong (branches poking through the soil). At angle 46° with the asymmetric fern grammar, accumulated turning exceeds 90°.

Options: (a) clamp angle range to a smaller max (e.g., 40°) — but the requirement is 1-5 generations and grammar; angle is my extra control. Still, better to handle gracefully:
(b) add a gravitropism/phototropism correction: limit each segment's heading so branches never point below horizontal — e.g., clamp the absolute heading to ±80° during interpretation. This is a common L-system plant trick and keeps the tree upright and above ground. But if I clamp during interpretation, the turtle's stored a is clamped and children inherit — good and consistent.

However the per-frame walk recomputes angles from prog with rotations and doesn't clamp. If I clamp in the walk, the effective heading differs from the model used for bbox. Solution: apply the same clamp in both: store in each segment the "pre-clamp" delta and compute the clamp in the walk. Simpler: in the walk, compute heading a and clamp to ±maxHeading (e.g., 1.35 rad ≈ 77°) relative to vertical — same rule as in interpret. Since both use the same rule, the bbox stays consistent (bbox computed with clamped headings too).

Actually simpler: clamp during interpret (so bbox is right), and in the draw walk, apply the same clamp to a before adding sway? The sway may push beyond ±77° slightly — acceptable (small).

Let me implement a helper: `clampHeading(a)` = constrain(a, -1.35, 1.35) applied after each rotation accumulation in both interpret and walk. But in interpret, a is accumulated with +/- and applied to F. I'll clamp right before drawing the F (i.e., store s.a = clamp(a)) — but then the position advance should use the clamped a as well, and subsequent rotations should continue from the unclamped a? For consistency between interpret and walk, the walk uses only the prog ops and per-segment data. Hmm — the walk recomputes `a` itself from rotations + sway, not from s.a. So I need the walk to clamp identically.

Plan: define `const HEAD_MAX = 1.32;` and in both interpret and walk: after applying rotations, when processing F: `a = clamp(a, -HEAD_MAX, HEAD_MAX)` — but careful: clamping `a` permanently changes subsequent turns (that's actually desirable: it "resets" the heading so the branch grows upward-ish). Both interpret and walk do the same thing at the same points, so they stay consistent. In the walk, I'll clamp after adding sway: a = clamp(a + sway). Since sway is small, this rarely binds.

Wait, in the walk the rotations happen at prog ops -1/-2, and clamping at F. In interpret, rotations happen at '+'/'-' tokens and clamping at F. Same order → identical. But the walk's clamp also includes sway, so it can differ slightly from the model (only when clamped). Fine.

Also '[' pushes a and ']' restores — consistent in both.

2. Also the tree at 46° looks messy/self-overlapping — that's grammar-dependent; the default 24° looks nicer. Fine.

3. Leaves drooping below the ground line: with the heading clamp, branches stay above horizontal-ish, so tips stay above ground. Good.

4. Another thing: the tree is shifted right and the panel occupies left. At gen 5 with angle 46, tree width 768px on 1200 canvas with cx = pr.right + (1200-322)/2 = 322+439=761 → spans 377..1145. OK, fits.

5. The trunk is quite thick and the branches look "wireframe-ish" with sharp polygon corners. Acceptable aesthetic. Maybe reduce the highlight and add slight curvature? It's fine.

6. Falling leaves: I see none in these frames — maybe because they spawn rarely (5% per frame → ~3/s) and life 10s... Actually f.life -= dt*0.10 → life lasts 10s. They should appear. Hmm, in the frames I don't see any falling leaves. Let me check the spawn condition: `state.phase === 'swaying'` ✓ (frames show swaying). tips filter: s.leaf && s.depth > maxDepth*0.4 ✓. p.random() < 0.05 → should spawn. The falling leaves are drawn as ellipses of size ~5-9 — maybe present but hard to spot. Actually looking at frame 1 bottom right there are leaves near the ground... those are on branches. Let me not worry; I'll verify after the next reload by watching a later frame.

Wait — there may be a bug: in drawFalling, `f.x`/`f.y` are in screen coords and I use p.push/translate — fine.

Let me also reconsider: `drawFalling` is called after the walk, so leaves are drawn on top. Fine.

7. One more improvement: the tree currently is drawn with the trunk base at groundY and shadow ellipse at state.ox. ✓.

Now implement the heading clamp. Also lower the angle slider max from 46 to 40 to keep trees tidy? With the clamp, 46 is fine. Keep 8-46.

Let me edit interpret() and the walk.

In interpret:
```
if (ch === 'F'){
  ...
  a = p? no p here — use Math.max(-HEAD_MAX, Math.min(HEAD_MAX, a));
```
Note interpret is outside the sketch (module-level function) — use plain Math.

In the walk: `a += sway(...)` then clamp: `if (a > HEAD_MAX) a = HEAD_MAX; else if (a < -HEAD_MAX) a = -HEAD_MAX;`

Also should the segment's stored `a` (unused in walk) matter? Not used for drawing.

Let me apply.
→ edit {"edits":[{"newText":" const LEN_TAPER = 0.85; // length multiplier per generation\n const HEAD_MAX = 1.30; // gravitropism:

Good. Now quickly verify gen 5 at a high angle stays above ground (the clamp). Set gen=5 and angle=46 via clicks, wait for growth, screenshot. Time is short — do it in 2 calls: click gen slider (x=306,y=261) then angle slider (x=306,y=334) — but each click is a separate call. Instead, just click angle to 46 at gen 4 (faster to verify clamp) — actually the drooping happened at gen 5/46°. Let me do both clicks in one call? They're dependent (both change state), but I can issue them sequentially in one message as independent calls... they'd run in order. Let me do that, then a motion capture.

The gravitropism clamp works: no branch hangs below the ground, whole tree stays on screen at gen 5 / 46°, and the sway is visible across frames with children attached (the canopy translates coherently).

One small bug: DOM phase text lags ("GROWING 100%" while canvas says SWAYING) — it's throttled at 140ms, fine; actually frame 1 shows "GROWING 100%" and canvas HUD "SWAYING" — just a momentary sync difference; syncDom is called from draw after phase change, so it's within 140ms. Acceptable.

Also the rightmost leaves at x≈1180 nearly touch the edge but on-screen check says ✓.

I'm near the time limit. Let me do a final syntax check and confirm the file is saved. Reset the default angle to 24 (already default). Done.

One last thing: the initial state after reload starts at gen 4 / angle 24 (defaults) — good, and the grammar dropdown label says "Asymmetric fern (angle 24°)" which matches.

Also, the falling leaves — I never clearly saw one. Quick check: it's a minor decorative feature; if it doesn't work, no harm. But let me not spend the remaining time. Actually a screenshot at ~10s would show. The last motion capture ended at t=7.5s of swaying with spawn probability 5%/frame — I didn't see falling leaves in frames at 6-7.5s. Possibly they spawn but are small and near the canopy, hard to distinguish from leaves. It's fine either way (not required).

Done. Write final report.

Saved and verified: `/tmp/job-9yiSWj/index.html` (single self-contained file, local `<script src="p5.min.js">`, no network/CDN assets). **What it does** - **Grammar (explicit)**: axiom `X`, rule `X → F[+X]F[-X]+X` (plus 2 alternates: `F[+X][-X]FX`, `FF[+X]F[-X]FX`), turtle angle configurable 8–46°. Expansion keeps per-symbol generation metadata, so `F` length tapers `0.85^gen` (early symbols = trunk, late = twigs). `+/-` turn, `[`/`]` push/pop → a connected parent-child branch tree. - **Bounded**: `MAX_TOKENS = 90000`, `MAX_SEGMENTS = 3500`, generation hard-limited to 1–5; a "⚠ expansion capped" note appears if a cap ever binds (it doesn't for these grammars: gen5 = 1332 symbols / 242 branches). - **Fit**: bbox of the fully grown model is computed and scaled/centered into the canvas (reserving the panel area), so the whole tree is visible at every generation/angle. A gravitropism clamp (±74° from vertical, applied identically in the model walk and the render walk) stops branches hanging under the ground. - **Growth**: each segment's start time is scheduled by its depth in the branch tree, so growth proceeds trunk → tips over ~5.6 s with ease-out extension; children emerge from their parent's live tip. - **Wind**: after growth the clock keeps running and each segment adds a small sinusoidal heading offset (gust-modulated, twigs flex more than the trunk). Because the tree is re-walked by the turtle every frame, child rotations accumulate on top of parent rotations — attachments never break. Grass bends with the same breeze; occasional leaves detach and drift. **Checked in the browser (console clean apart from a sandbox iframe warning)** - Sampled growth frames: 0 % → 78 % → 89 % → 100 %, trunk first, then branches, then leaves; parent-child junctions visibly continuous at every zoom of the canopy. - Console logs confirm expansion each rebuild: `symbols=441 segments=80 maxParentChainDepth=7` (gen 4) vs `symbols=1332 segments=242 maxParentChainDepth=9` (gen 5) → generation change restarted the clock at 0 % with a clearly denser, differently branched tree. - Phase transition logged (`phase → swaying at t=5.63s`); motion frames at t=5.7/6.3/6.9/7.5 s show the canopy translating and tips flexing while the trunk base stays planted. - Worst case (gen 5, angle 46°) still reported "fully on screen ✓" with no branch below the ground line; Regrow button, grammar select, angle and breeze sliders all rewire into `rebuild()`/state as expected. **Not deeply verified**: the other two grammars were only exercised via the select's defaults (not screenshotted individually), narrow/mobile layout (panel-overlap branch of `fitView`), and the decorative falling-leaf particles (spawn path runs, but I did not isolate a particle on screen).
