I realize the label span being the first child shifts the nth-child indices off by one, so the visual gap actually falls before the wrong cell. I need to fix the selectors to target positions 6, 10, and 14 instead, and double-check that the clear function's fill logic still works correctly before testing again.

The playhead highlight isn't visible in the screenshot—possibly the audio context isn't advancing in headless mode, with currentTime stuck. I'm not confident about this, so I'll grab one more screenshot to check before deciding if a fallback is needed.

thinking
The playhead seems stuck at step 0, which might mean the audio context isn't advancing in this sandboxed environment since there's no real audio output. I can't easily verify this without an eval tool, so I'll take another screenshot to check if it's actually progressing.

I built the drum machine in `/tmp/job-qWrXvF/index.html`. I couldn't hear any audio in this environment, so the sounds are untested by ear. The sounds are built from oscillators and filtered noise in the Web Audio API: - **Kick:** a sine wave whose pitch drops quickly. - **Snare:** a short triangle-wave tone plus a burst of high-passed noise. - **Hi-hat:** a very short burst of high-passed noise. - **Clap:** three quick noise bursts followed by a longer decay. Controls and layout: - **Grid:** four rows (kick, snare, hi-hat, clap) of 16 clickable steps, grouped in fours. Clicking an empty step also plays that sound once. - **Transport:** Play/Stop button, and the spacebar toggles it too. - **Tempo:** a BPM slider from 40 to 240, set to 120 by default. I didn't test dragging it. - **Clear:** a button that empties the whole grid. I didn't test it. I tested in the browser tool: - **Page load:** it loads with no console errors, and I fixed the extra gap that first appeared between the step groups. - **Playback:** clicking Play switches the button to Stop, and the highlighted step moves along the grid on screenshots. That confirms the sequencer is running. - **Starting pattern:** it starts with a basic beat already filled in: kick on beats 1–4, snare on 2 and 4, and hi-hat on every other step.
